OK -- I've seen "(500) Days of Summer" and would add it to the list. Unconventional rom-com story unconventionally told adds up to a serious story about love, obsession & maturity.
Among the movies you saw, my list would include Up in the Air, Up, and District 9. Among your unseen, I really liked Moon and The Hurt Locker. Biggest surprise (though not necessarily a best): Zombieland. Absolutely hysterical in parts, though it did start to run out of gas near the end. And Avatar was a movie experience unlike any other. I can't imagine watching it in 2D or at home -- even on a big-screen TV.
